Dominic Perez was born in New York City Hospital on Manhattan’s upper east side.  He grew up in the suburbs of Westchester County in the tiny town of Pelham.  The son of a building superintendent he majored in philosophy at the State University of New York at Purchase.  After graduating he held just about every job you can think of from carnival ride operator to stock market trading assistant at investment banks like Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs.

Dominic began producing videos shortly after his older brother Mario brought home a “hot” video camera that he bought from some homeless guy on the street in the Bronx.  Mario quickly became bored with his new toy, but Dominic’s interest grew and grew each time he used this amazing little hand-held gadget to capture reality.  After making several no-budget comedies and horror shorts using his family members as “talent”, Dominic joined DCTV (Downtown Community Television) where he worked as an unpaid intern.  At DCTV Dominic began producing, shooting and editing his own videos and also worked on projects for many other independent producers.

After producing the Vinny Devingo Story - a documentary about a real mafioso type guy who tries to make it big in Hollywood - Dominic got a job at CBS News as an associate producer on the news magazine 48 Hours with Dan Rather.  Highlights at CBS include spending a weekend with the KKK shooting a story on racial hate in the USA and covering the death of JFK jr.  The JFK jr. tragedy inspired Dominic to quit his job at CBS and to start doing things he’s always wanted to do.  After traveling through Finland, Venezuela, Estonia, Sweden, France, Spain and many other countries, Dominic returned to New York City and started producing projects that interest him on a personal level.  His most recent documentary is entitled P.S. I LOVE YOU!  It’s about a young optimistic couple whose marital bliss descends into a hellish nightmare.

That married couple happens to be Dominic’s brother Mario (the guy that bought that “hot” video camera long ago), Mario’s wife Cheena and their children. It’s a documentary that has been 16 years in the making.
